I AM POEM

I Am

I am an African American Male, with a mentality to never fail
I wonder if my friends really know the real me
I hear the doubters saying I can’t make it
I pretend like I’m upset but I know it won’t kill me
I see the success awards and plaques in my future
I want the young African males to know they can do it
I am going to succeed in my lifetime
I feel sometimes that I should just stop trying
I touch the keys on my laptop during late night assignments
I worry when I wake up the next morning and can’t find them
I cry when I think of failing
I am not worried much because I am always excelling
I understand the path I took will be prevailing

Reflection Of My School

My pre professional course is taken at Kay Road Elementary School. I'm in the gym or the track or the playground majority of the time. My cooperating teachers are Coach Smith and Coach Barker, although they teach at Kay Road they coach for middle and high schools. I enjoy going to the elementary school every tuesday and thursday seeing the young students, some of them are very excited to come to P.E. I have enjoyed this semester and will continue to enjoy the many oppurtunities I have in the future student teaching.

Waiting for Superman

In the Waiting for Superman Documentary it showed viewers the many struggles that low income cities have in the public schools. The vital education that students need isn't given in those communities, like they are in other communities, and by chance of a lottery ticket children would have a better education, the school that they would have the opportunity to go to wouldn't necessarily make them a successful individual, but it would prepare them in a much more advance level than the local public schools would
have.

21st Century Classroom

In the 21st century I can visualize playgrounds being primarily inside for safety conditions. Many kids break their arm or leg playing on the playgrounds we have today, also scraping knees elbows and other body parts is a an issue that I can visualize being reduced in the far future. Since many assignments are computer based in this day and time I can imagine students being assigned their own portable laptop provided by the school, instead of having textbook, with these laptop assigned to students a contract in which the student must agree and sign, so they will have full liabilty over their laptop, and pay for it if it's stolen or damaged. Being that America has a high obesity rate when it comes to children, I feel that in the 21st century grade schools will provided more efficient information on how to become healthy and that physical education classes will become more intense.
